FLI Identifies Five Leak Paths in Two High Pressure Suspended Gas Wells in Australia Ahead of Scheduled P&A Operations.

FiberLine Intervention (FLI) has been used to pinpoint the source of sustained casing pressure in two high temperature suspended gas wells in Australia. A number of challenges led to the operator’s decision to use FLI including: 1) The well site was remote, with very little infrastructure available; 2) At 200°C, the downhole temperature would be challenging for conventional surveys using electronic sensors; 3) Rapid answers were required ahead of scheduled rig abandonment operations.

Given the time, temperature, resource and location challenges, FLI provided the ideal solution. Each rig-up and down and 3,000 m. survey were completed within a single day shift. The survey accurately identified five individual leak paths in these two challenging wells, allowing remediation to be planned and executed efficiently in line with the planned abandonment operations.
